M/WBE Check.
Type the certificates and registrations your company holds and the buyers you sell to. See which ones a buyer would find lapsed, due soon or missing, the stage each one is needed at, which of your certificates that buyer’s program counts, and where to check each one at the source. Free, no account, and nothing you type is stored or sent: the printout is made in your browser. This page checks dates and what you type against each program’s published rule. The program office decides whether you qualify.

Questions about what a buyer checks before an award
What does a City agency check before it awards a contract?
Whether you are responsible. Before an award, the agency must find that you can perform the contract in all respects and have the business integrity to justify public money. Part of what it reads is your PASSPort vendor enrollment, where you disclose facts about your company. A City agency cannot start any contracting action with you in PASSPort until that enrollment reads Filed, and the City pays vendors through a Payee Information Portal account. On a contract over $100,000, one City agency says the Department of Investigation runs a Vendor Name Check that takes about 30 days.
Does my NMSDC certificate count toward a City or State goal?
Not on its own. A City M/WBE goal is the share of a contract performed by a city-certified business. On State contracts, only firms certified by Empire State Development count toward MWBE goals. A certification from one agency does not make you certified with another. Corporations and governments use NMSDC’s database to find suppliers, and NMSDC says its certification does not guarantee contracts. This page shows each buyer’s published rule and links it. The program office decides whether you qualify.
How long does each certificate last?
An NYC M/WBE certificate is good for five years from the date on the confirmation letter. Each year SBS asks for a confirmation that nothing material changed in ownership, operation or control, and it emails a reminder 45 days before the anniversary. When New York State renewed its program in 2019, it extended the MWBE certification term from three to five years. An NMSDC certificate lasts one year, and NMSDC asks for the renewal within 90 days of the expiry date. This page reads the expiry date you type from your certificate. It does not work one out.
How long is a PASSPort enrollment good for?
Three years from when it was signed and submitted, and you confirm it is accurate with each new contract award. A change request or a certification of no change restarts the three years. A certification of no change is valid for 90 days, and a new one should be submitted whenever you are awarded a new contract. So when you say an award is coming, this page flags a certification of no change older than 90 days.
What about SAM.gov, the SCA, NYSDOL and Con Edison?
Federal rules require an offeror to be registered in SAM when it submits an offer and at the time of award, and a registration runs 365 days from the date it was submitted. The School Construction Authority awards contracts to prequalified firms, except vendor contracts under $10,000. A prime must be prequalified at bid opening, firms are qualified for three years, and the SCA strongly encourages firms to requalify at least six months before their status expires. Since December 30, 2024, a contractor must be registered with NYSDOL before bidding on covered public work, and a certificate of registration is valid for two calendar years. For construction-related work, Con Edison says you must be an approved supplier before you can be invited to bid, and its vendor self-certification is valid for one year.
What does a buyer see when they look me up?
The City publishes its list of certified firms with each firm’s certification and renewal date, NAICS and NIGP codes, business description, website, bonding limit, up to three past jobs with their value and the share the firm performed itself, its largest contract, and whether it is enrolled in PASSPort. A field you left blank there reads blank to anyone who opens the list. To see your own listing, search the City’s online directory or the State’s directory of certified firms yourself; this page does not look anyone up.
Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. Nothing you type is stored or sent. The printout is made in your browser, and a reload clears the page.
A self-check built on the date rule AsBuilt uses for a contractor’s own certificates and registrations, with each program’s rule linked to the page it came from, read on 16 October 2026. It checks dates and what you type. It does not look you up, does not decide whether you qualify or are responsible, and is not legal advice: the program office, the buying agency or your counsel decides. Rules, dollar limits and time frames change, so the linked page is the current word. No agency, council or company named here is affiliated with this page. Great Breads Studio makes AsBuilt. We are NMSDC certified and have applied for NYC M/WBE.
The dates check out but they live in three inboxes and nobody’s calendar? That is what the Read is for.
